Pavel Kolpakov graduated Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine,
composition department.
He is the member of the Union of Composers of Ukraine.
During some years Pavel Kolpakov worked with “Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus”
and his compositions were performed in various concert halls of Europe and the USA.
“Caprice” and “The Lost World” for Symphony Orchestra are Pavel Kolpakov’s the latest
compositions, which have embodied all his mastery and skill.
They were performed by the National Symphonic Orchestra of Ukraine and Academic
Symphonic Orchestra of National Radio Company of Ukraine at the International
Festivals “Kiev Summer Musical Evenings” and “Kiev-Music-Fest” in 2005 and 2006 years.
These compositions together with traditional melodic lines
and rhythms are deeply replete with modern script technique.
Harmonic verticals include various sound correlation patterns – from simple triads
to sonorous chords distorted in a sonic dimension. Melodic-harmonic script structure,
polyphonic diversity and controlled aleatory composition now and then reveal their bright
individuality smoothly entwining into each other and creating in their balance the inimitable
sonic spaces.
This music demonstrates tendency to visualization of sound images, and affecting
the subconsciousness in a positive way is comprehensible even for unprepared audience.
